People come and go in all of our lives, here are a few from the last few years who have meant a lot to me..
Raz and I went up to Bowman lake in Glacier with Ruby and Jean. Ruby was on her way to med school. She had this way of looking at people that could make a juggler drop a coffee cup....

Yuko at the Deer Creek range, summer of 2000.
This photo was taken at the Deer Creek Gun range, a public place near Missoula, Montana. We had gone shooting 9mm and .45 Autos with Rasim Babameto. It was only later thay Yuko told me that sometimes when she walked across bridges she felt like jumping off... scary... her favorite book was Albert Camus Stranger...

Karen Kreisel
I've been friends with Karen for more than 16 years now, but I never know where she is until she suddenly just shows up... In this photo, Karen had been living alone in a Buddhist retreat in northern Washington for more than a year, when some of her family members showed up in a big motor home to 'save her.' She fled, and ended up here, in my kitchen, drinking tea and telling me stories. She didn't mind my dirty kitchen so much because of all the books that were (are still) scattered about. Click on this link and then read the words carefully... it is funny... Karen, where are you??? Karen Kreisel

Michael Coles, Missoula
For several years Michael and I used to live next door to each other. We used to spend a lot of time together, talking about photography, movies, literature and women. Back yard bbq's, wine, Go, Chess.... it was a great friendship. |

Patrick Todd. He and I were playing chess. We are well matched with each other. I first met Patrick when he was running the Missoula Poverello center. I was poor and lived outside and ate there several times a week, washing dishes afterwords. Patrick is also a poet. |

William Knight at the FreeMail offices.
I hired William back when Glenn and I started FreeMail, Inc. William was an x-microsoft programmer. He quit working for us when we sold our company to Wam!Net, a total mess of a place that was involved with MCIWorldCom. William didn't want to work for a big corporation (he was smarter then me), and instead of making money, went back to college and got a pHd in BioChemistry. |
