I made my own QSL card from a photo of me rock climbing, by cutting out my call letters and putting them between two pieces of tape and then putting that on the printing paper in a dark room. Before photoshop :)
I posted something on LinkedIn about my 1st Redbook story, and an editor at the time, Deborah Purcell, saw it and made a wonderful comment.
I published a lot of short fiction when I was in my early 20's. I didn't have, nor need an agent after the Redbook stories. But agents and editors wrote to me asking for more of my stories. I saved this wonderful letter from Gail Hochman, from when she was just starting out at Brandt & Brandt. We were both so young! Everyone was.
I went to Burning Man five times. Then I got burnt out with it.
